Clinicians encounter a variety of medical conditions as musculoskeletal providers. In the rehabilitation professions, we must be able to screen for impairments outside of the musculoskeletal system and manage our patients’ cases appropriately. Therapists remain secondary providers for most of these conditions but need to understand how other systems (blood pressure, diabetes, hypothyroidism, etc.) can impact musculoskeletal care. This course will focus on the different systems that may impact musculoskeletal care and provide a framework for making efficient decisions in patient management. We will also focus on the practical screening needed in clinical care and will take a case-based approach to practical decision making and patient management.
